Obsession
a poem about the destructive nature of obsessions
Obsession.
It rages like a fire
eating up the earth
consuming everything in its world
everything it encompasses
everything it is given access to.
Made like a bull
it charges
when it sees red--
a threat
a challenge, maybe
or perhaps just something in its path.
But in the end,
it is its own destruction
when it has no more to consume
no more food to feed its hunger
it dies,
starved to death
because it has
destroyed and devoured
everything all at once,
leaving nothing left
for it to feast on.
