The End/The Beginning

I stood in the illume of the moonlight
Heather, you were hidden in the deep darkness
but I heard your voice, barely a whisper
“I love you... let’s start again”
but the ache in my soul had faded
and as I spoke, I knew it
“I don’t need you anymore”

But you wouldn’t listen
the sombre tone you spoke
had become one of bitterness
“I hate you and I never want to see you again”
I shied away at the venomous snare
and as I spoke, I finally understood
“I don’t need you anymore”

This is the end of you
This is the end of me
This is the end of us

Stephanie cradles her stomach
imagining the tiny life inside
Unknowing and uncaring
of the poisonous drama
“I will protect you,
with or without your Daddy”
The moonlight passes over her
and soaks her in celestial uncertainty

This is the beginning for you
This is the beginning for me
This is the beginning for us

And him... if he cares...

The End
