Nightmare Comes

Nightmare comes,
a horse it is,
with sightless eyes
and rotting gums,

with a ragged coat
of shadow black,
rasping breath
in torn-out throat,

hoof-beats hollow
as the tomb,
beat the speed
of the heart they follow.

You will not wake,
no need to hope,
this is not false,
this is not fake.

Run, it's all
that's left for you,
just do not trip,
and don't you fall.

Nightmare comes,
a horse it is,
with rotten heart
and many tongues.

The End
