New Years, Last Year
this time last year it was New Years day
and I woke up looking at your face
and I sat there wanting you to hold me
because winter chills the bone so coldly
then summer came and it was warm
and you and I began to form
but with the coming of the fall
you and I became nothing at all
come this winter and something's missing
New Years and its champagne I'm kissing
three days pass and I'm stuck in the mood
all I can think of is how I miss you
you denied all my affection
and a flower dies without attention
that night I wondered, unbelievably
if there was the possibility you were thinking of me
It's like the cookies got moved up just a tad
and thinking of you just makes me sad
the wind makes even the trees bend
I just can't wait for winter to end.
