Never Walks Alone

A poem I wrote about freedom.

Never Walks Alone

there was a girl who didn’t know who she was
there was a girl who didn’t let herself cry
there was a girl who slept with lights on at night
even though she didn’t really know why

there was a girl who lied to save face
there was a girl who never said if she was hurt
there was a girl who tried to hide her pain
and only released it through written word

she thought it was a sin to show weakness
she thought she was lonely and all alone
there was a girl who didn’t know who she was
but she knew one thing: she wanted to come home

and there’s a God Who sees her struggling
there’s a God Who grieves with her grief
there’s a God Who loves her, anyways
there is Love enough to love me

there is a girl who still fights battles
and she still doesn’t see the end of the war
but she will continue to bravely soldier on
because she knows what she’s fighting for

there is a girl who doubts others’ love
and she still greatly desires chains sometimes
but she knows that there’s a greater calling
far greater than simply trying not to cry

i am a girl who stumbles and falls
i am a girl who wants to hide my heart
but i don’t, and i won’t, because i know
Love remains, even when i fall apart

and there’s a God Who gives me eagles’ wings
there’s a God Who calls me His own
there’s a God Who never leaves my side
even when i want to walk alone
God, You have never let me walk alone ♥

The End
