Because I never thought I'd know.
I didn't know this pain

Because I never saw it coming.
I didn't know that I
Could fall in love.

Never thought I'd see this,
Because the picture was so blurred.
I didn't know that I
Had a heart.

Never thought I'd hear this,
Because my ears were blocked with wax.
And yet it touched me
Even so.

Just a poem. Means nothing, says nothing, sings nothing. But it's mine and I wrote it, and as the fingers hit the keyboard and the words hit the page, I felt it too, that alien pain -- the one that so far has never been mine, but is surely not too far away.
