Nettles

Big brother, what you going to teach me today?
I can’t see you but I know you are there
I still have that jumper you left for me
I am wearing it right now

Big brother, Dad says you have gone away
but he didn’t say you when you were coming home
He’s been quiet these past few days
He’s been crying just like everyone else

Hey, remember when we ran through the fields?
we passed through the nettles like
they weren’t even there
Hey, remember when fell and hurt myself?
you helped me to my room
you said you would always be here for me
But where are you now?

Big brother, it’s been two weeks and still nothing
My Uncle won’t give me a straight answer
Said, you had somewhere to be
with a man named Jesus...

I am getting angry, I just can’t comprehend
why it can’t be just like old times
They cleared out your room the other day
Oh, Dad left me an old photo of the time
on my fifth birthday
I was holding your present close to my heart
It was the toy I always wanted

Hey, remember when we ran through the fields?
we passed through the nettles like
they weren’t even there
Hey, remember when fell and hurt myself?
you helped me to my room
you said you would always be here for me
But where are you now?

The End
