We were painting masterpieces out of each otherMature

There is something alive in me,
swirling in my veins like silver,
twisting knots into my arteries
and making everything taste
like the last time you kissed me,
open mouthed, all teeth and fingers
in my hair. I always think of blood
when I think of you. Blood in my mouth,
blood on your lips, on my legs, on your hands.
Some things are meant to burn quickly.
I can still hear your footsteps on the stairs
if I close my eyes and remember.

The End
