today's flavor is: discontentMature

Today’s flavor is: discontent.
It lingers in the back of my throat
              like hard liquor.
Yesterday’s flavor was bittersweet,
              aged love sat too long
              in the hot sun.
Days tick by but the flavors
              are all the same, anymore.

Love tastes like old resentment
tastes like yesterday’s sorrow
tastes like french kissing after a bottle of wine
tastes like punch-drunk adoration
tastes like molten lava fury
tastes like love gone flat
tastes like too much honesty
tastes like grief tastes like absence
tastes like hello tastes like goodbye
tastes like ashes taste like tears
taste like discontent.

The End
