my skin is wild with the frenzy 
of an itch I can’t dig deep enough
to scratch, fingers buried knuckle-deep
into muscle, nails scraping bone, it’s still
not close enough; I’m burning from the inside -
roasting alive, spitting ash and cinders like blood.
