we cry when we crack into our ribsMature

we cry when we crack into our ribs
and bury greedy fingers in the pulpy mess
we try to keep from the light.  our nights
are spent submerged in nightmares
that are identical to our lives, indistinguishable
except for the way other people blink one,
two, three times too many.

i tried to fix this broken thing but it only broke me.
