NaNoWriMo: Eroding

Recommend

The waves rush in,
Caressing the sand
With soft, tender touches.
The tide whispers
Gentle, sly words
Of love.
Gently tugging,
It draws away,
Leaving scars
Rutted into the beach,
Marring the beauty
It so desired before.

The tide rises,
Falls,
Rises.
Wearing away
The soft sand
Beneath my feet.
Stealing a few grains
With each teasing touch.
Leaving behind nothing,
Only taking, destroying.

My shore
Slowly disappears
Beneath my feet.
Never to reappear.
Salty tears of the sea
Remind me of what was
Once my beautiful beach.
