Burnt, He Stares

Burnt, he stares into the flames
No one knows how the fire came
But life will never be the same

Hurt, but not quite dead
He'll live awhile with shoes of lead
And a stomach full of dread

Gone, his house, his things
His cash, his bed, his bass that sings
His food and water, his golden rings

Done, he's done with life
Too much pain and too much strife
Cutting through him like a knife

Out, into the fireflies
In a darkened field he lies
To burn the stars into his eyes

The End
