Memories haunt your dreams,

Every night as you drift

Into that half-way point

Between sleep and wakefulness

You want to forget

You would give anything to forget,

To have those memories just slip from your mind

And leave a blank, unblemished vacancy in your head

But it won’t stop plaguing you,

That feeling of loneliness, absolute desolation

The feeling that if you had told…

Even screamed what had happened…

No one would be there

To listen, to comfort,

To help you realize it was over

And you were safe.

The End
