I'll Never Tell

Secrets whispered

Words said

All for keeping

Inside my head

A merchant at the market

I trade mine for yours

Of you trustworthiness

I am assured

Or so it appears

But as time begins to pass

It seems these oaths

Never seem to last

"I'll never tell anyone.

That's what friends are for, right?"

But friendships fade

And I start losing my might

Gradually a back becomes numb

From being stabbed so often

The rock-hard belief in the good of mankind

Slowly begins to soften

And words lose their meaning

"Friends" begin to quell

Now I simply laugh

When I hear "I'll never tell."

The End
