I met God and he asked if he could toss me off

I met God, and he asked

If he could toss me off.

I must admit, I was rather stunned

I'd never imagined this,

of all things.

And, though it was a day of strange things

And I had trouble finding my way

And I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised

(It was a fine mid-August day

And yet the air was chill-ish)

I must admit, to my embarassment

I never knew God was British.
