Once Upon a Spiderweb

Once upon a spiderweb,

A large brown spider sat

And waited for his lunch to come

And he grew hairy and fat

His web was rather messily done,

All sprawling this way and that

Between the screen and my window pane

Where he waited patiently, like a cat

Until one day, when the air was cool

I opened my window, and heard a splat

It was then I realized, with a feeling of dread

That I had forgotten, and squashed him flat

The End
