Me and You

Recommend

Trying to rest our restless nerves

We walk along the pier

But my heart jumps and strangles me

And you keep choking in fear

But somehow a serene happiness

Pervades our shattered minds

And we slow our pace, and begin to speak,

Our fingers intertwined

They say we’re blinded by youth

They say we will never last

They say we will need money and time

And we’re diving in too fast

But they are wrong when they say we will change

And our love and interests, too

I don’t believe I can find another

Who understands me like you do

All the time, the waves beat a warning

As the tide comes steadily in

Crashing against the weathered pilings

A reminder of storms that have been

But for now, we won’t look to the past

And we won’t think of storms ahead

Because, for now, we are satisfied

With the two simple words I’ve said.

The End

How challenging. Write a poem with the title decided by the author of the post before. It's quite absurd.

*I encourage you to leave a COMMENT for the poet before you (or on any poem you like). This is an exercise in both poetry and in community! Please help us build on each other.

Have fun! Try to read others' work! Be fair, play nice, be appropriate (I don't want to mark this mature). You're big kids; you know what 'appropriate' means.

Thanks, Eryl
