More Than Friends

We sang songs about anything and nothing

Under the moon and stars

Beer in hand and cigarettes lit

Catching fireflies in jars

You leaned in to say something

I leaned in to hear

And we joined in a kiss sweet as summertime

It brought a new sort of music to my ears

A song of you and I

A song of me and you

A song of us, together

Under the sky, dark blue

And the moment ended, we both leaned back

And looked at each other in jest

And friendship was woven into our song

And I knew that song was the best

The End
