Misery By Any Name

How movie love-esque romance is only destructive

It’s another cold night in February and she’s expecting nothing

Apparently the day of love has been and gone

Celebrated only by its absence

He’s spaced out and sees the night in colours

Twisted chemistry happens in sync

And they fell in love in a glance

Two months later and she has his name

Tattooed on her arm for the world to see

But don’t they both know

That true love is another name for misery?

It’s love for her and it’s a form of control for him

He plays games because love is power not mutual

But secretly he’s more and more afraid

She’s panicking in the bathroom, struggling to breathe

Twisted romance crooked and broken

But they’re in love all the same

Two months later and she has his name

Tattooed on her arm for the world to see

But don’t they both know

That true love is another name for misery?

Romeo and Juliet and the rest of them

Mutilated and broken, ending in tragedy

Of course every couple thinks they’re different

Stupidly defiant, swimming against the history

Two months later and she has his name

Tattooed on her arm for the world to see

But don’t they both know

That true love is another name for misery?

The End
