Me As An Animal

Recommend

Me As A Gerbil

Dashing about, then stopping and starting and

freezing to stare, winking and grooming and

curling up suddenly quiet and asleep.

Rolled in a ball, comfy and warm.

Darting, alert

and wakeful and eyes wide;

thumping at danger with kangaroo feet and then

running with fear.

Nibbling a seed, and then another and

hiding away, so no one can take it,

it's mine; when it's gone

there may be no more for me.

My fur is soft

and I am so small,

but curious always and

ever on guard.
