May Day

Say hello as you always do
I’ll return the greeting with
something less severe
You raise your voice
I just feel frustrated
that I am stricken with bad luck

Its tough knowing no matter
what is said here now
will mean nothing
You trample on the hopes
that there could be a new start
instead of leading me on

I ain’t the candidate you want
I’ve got no job and I am too reliant
I ain’t the boyfriend you want
but I don’t mind giving it all up
if we spent May Day
wondering how to spend the Summer

You don’t talk for hours
but when you finally do
it’s nothing but trouble
It ain’t fair on him
but is it fair on you?
is it fair on me?

Its tough knowing no matter
what is said here now
will mean nothing
I’ve got no faith
that when you leave
you will be coming back

I ain’t the candidate you want
I’ve got no job and I am too reliant
I ain’t the boyfriend you want
but I don’t mind giving it all up
if we spent May Day
wondering how to spend the Summer

The End
