Mask of Good Intentions

When you try to be there for someone, but you end up destroying them through accident or design, how fragile friendships truly are.

Suffocating under a mask of good intentions

listening to everyone's burdens

catching the flood of tears that follow in the wake

I look inside of my myself and ask questions

Can I really survive the onslaught to come

Can I wear the mask and be the hero

Only when we suffer ourselves

can we truly be there for our friends

Only when we destroy ourselves

can we save them from the same

Crumbling under the pressures of your friendship

destroying everyones intentions

swinging the balance to the darker end of the scale

I look inside of myself and laugh once more

Take another look and see what i've caused

I've made a monster, i'm not a hero

Do I dare to tell her i'm sorry

or let her know it's her own fault

should I tell her I don't care at all

Should I be the one to seal her fate

Only when we suffer ourselves

can we truly be there for our friends

Only when we destroy ourselves

can we save them from the same

In time she may love me

but darkness will smother the dawn

In time she may adore me

but I think her heart's ripped and torn

Only when we suffer ourselves

can we truly be there for our friends

Only when we destroy ourselves

can we save them from the same

The End
