The moments left us burn away
As fleeting as the light of day
I hear your screams, you hear my cries
Lost to the haze that floods the skies

Heat chars the skin and sears the spine
I feel your pain and you feel mine
Flames peel the muscle from our bones
At least we do not die alone

Our breathing frays like knotted rope
But in our hearts we dare to hope
That souls can slip beyond the smoke
To live somewhere they will not choke.

The End
