Love Found And Lost
Expectations of sincerety
The irony was never lost on me
You expect others to tear themselves apart for you
But when the time came for empathy
You were devoid of sympathy
I spent days away and you blamed me for your failures
But time has hardened my skin and I couldn't care less
I spent time away and now I know to be happy
Even if you never loved me, even feigned interest
Gave my self to love without logic
Trapped myself away from knowledge
You demanded nothing but the best from me
But when the moment came for an embrace
You turned around, condemned, disgraced
I spent days away and you blamed me for your failures
But time has hardened my skin and I couldn't care less
I spent time away and now I know to be happy
Even if you never loved me, even feigned interest
It's more dangerous than highway traffic babe
Because you never felt the same
Sweet manipulation better than any affection
A stab in the back feels better than any kiss
At least you won't be missed
Won't be missed when I leave
