Love Distraction

He was quite afraid to admit
and she was loathe to confess
that the passion of their union
only manifested under duress

The relationship had no foundation
the premise was of pure bliss
to satisfy those innate desires
that which in real life was amiss

When the flame does finally extinguish
either party begins to deride
the minute flaws that were overlooked
now almost become impossible to hide

The motives are immediately questioned
and this indulgence up for debate
A future together is deemed impossible
How could they possibly relate?

Later they look back ever so fondly
their moments a delicatessen
it was once so rich and creamy
consumed in haste, and now it sickens

The End
