I Stand and I Watch

I stand and I watch,
in the darkness,
that the night has cast
over the world.
Here, there is no dim glow
from thousands of street lights.

I stare up at the sky,
remember what's past.
I stare up at the sky,
and as I do so, I see something ...
a shooting star,
for me.

I stand and I watch,
and as I do so,
I cry.

The End
