Look For Me At Sunrise

Once, in a not so far off land, there lived a boy and his old man.
They wandered through the wood and field, and over time their love was sealed.
Together they sang and played until the late churchbells rang.

One evening, crystal clear, the old man whispered in his boy's ear
"One day the good things will come to an end, no longer will I be here to wait for you at days end,
But I'll be in the sea, the moon and stars, never very far,
Just wait till the autumn leaves arrive, then look for me at sunrise"

Days passed and the old man's words came true, he'd gone away just like his beloved Mary-Sue
The boy wept, O how he wept, not a night went by where at peace he slept.
Weeks flew by and he cried and cried, "My heart, I fear it's died!"

Whenever he could he looked at the sky, crystal clear, and whispered softly for him to hear
"One day good things will come to an end, no longer will I be here to wait for you at days end, but I'll be in the sea, moon and stars, never very far, just wait till the autumn leaves arrive, then look for me at sunrise"

Months crept along and the summer sun blazed, no longer could the boy jump or run
No longer could he sing his tune, beneath the light of the silvery moon
He only wept as he rounded the bend, without his old man at the long days end.

As the summer began to close, the boy counted all his woes
On the morning of autumn, the boy searched his heart, down the the bottom
He searched for a memory, long since gone, no words left to his sad story

The boy had aged and fires of nostalgia within him raged
The leaves had turned and the cool wind blew, evermore those fires burned.
At night underneath an evening sky, crystal clear, there came a whisper in his ear

"One day good things will come to an end, no longer will I wait for you at days end,
But I'll be in the sea, moon and stars, never very far,
Wait till the autumn leaves arrive then look for me at sunrise"

The boy waited and waited all hours of the night, his hopes were way past elevated
Once the sun began to rise, he felt calm as he closed his eyes
He ran fast as he could, into the waiting arms of his old man

One in a land not so far away, there lived a boy and his old man,
Together they sang with their lord, in a glorious heaven where fears were overcame
No more did they weep for lost dreams, in fact they rested in peaceful sleep

And one evening, crystal clear, you might hear a whisper in your ear
"One day good things will end, but only for a season will your heart be bent
Because I'll be in the sea, moon and stars, never very far,
Just wait for the autumn leaves, only then will your heart begin to mend"

The End
