The girls are not pretty,

The hands are not welcoming,

The hair not gleaming,

The conversation forced.

I have human contact,

Not what I want,

Not what I need,

Not you.

They are not you,

They are not a shadow of your shadow,

They have no substance in my eyes,

They cannot measure up.

Time has slowed.

Each day crawls by,

Each minute counted,

Each dragging second lived.

When can I hold you again?

When can I kiss you?

Feel your soft lips against mine?

Feel your warmth?

I want no other than you,

I need no other than you,

For me, there is no other than you.

They say absence makes the heart grow fonder,

I think I’m starting to understand.

The End
