Deserted Child

A shiver of wind

Tugs at a deserted babe

Clutched in foreign arms.

A gruff voice hushes

The dejected cries of gloom

Of a cowered child.

A bony hand grips

A gnarled, knotted tree branch

Hidden from his snarl.

A lanky boy sat,

Hunched on a floral couch

In an alien house.

 A teenager’s sneer

And dark sweep on his forehead

Hid his lonely eyes.

A young man bolted

From their grins, sneers and pity

Away from his past.

The accomplished man

Promised, to the sleeping child

He’d watch her grow up.

The End
