Listening Ear
A truth unveiled upon a listening ear
Was considered and kept in mind
Held it tight so as not to lose it
Like a gemstone one of a kind
Polished it enhancing it's value
Ensured it out of respect
Had it secured in a gold setting
And wore it around the neck
Unlike the ear of a deaf man
Although eyes to see it shine
Did not hear of it's value
And sold it for a lousy dime
Yet even the ear of a dumb man
And witless of his thought
Gripped it tightly in his hands
And said, "Hey Look what I've Got"!
