Like a Pair of Socks

Whatever **^#ing happened to us? We were like a pair of socks

We were like a pair of socks

Flung with abandon on the floor

Catapulted head first

Into the cynicisms of life

But oh how we adored it

Cradled it

Nursing our malady

Like a new born baby

Slashed from its big fat umbilical cord

Of density and disregard

Innocence

There is no such thing

So we never tried to play its game

To win the battle

You first have to surrender

We were like a pair of socks

But now you have flung to better things

And I have been catapulted

To bitter things

Forced into mediocrity

With an odd sock

Because my feet are frigid

From the absence of you

The End
