6. Windows

I sat by the window all night,

Because I couldn’t sleep,

And I watched the sky pearl

And the window is a window,

While my back yard is another world

The morning comes in a gentle wind,

And it burns my grateful eyes,

And my warm toes are curled,

And the light is just a window

Into another world

I opened the window at some point,

And forgot as I watched the clouds

Whipped into pink-tinged swirls

And the lights are just windows

Into other worlds and worlds

And I opened my eyes

In order to see, rubbing them

Until the dizzy world whirled

And my eyes are just windows

Into the light of other worlds

The End
