Depression is a word that people sometimes use to describe their daily mood. However, that is an incorrect use of the word. Depression is a state of being unhappy and almost emotionless for an extended period of time, like a month. Words the people should have used could be unhappy, down, sad, melancholy, or morose. What is depression like? Depression can be seen as an ocean or a closing room. It is like a ocean in the sense that the "current" pulls you away from people. Then, as time progresses, the ocean pulls you down into darker and darker depths where you are even more alone. Depression is like the room in that the door disappears, letting no one in or out. The room gets smaller and smaller, causing the person inside to feel even more trapped in the darkness. People wish to escape the darkness.
