let's not have a cliche here

But then we can’t have a cliché here.

When you’re waiting for me to reply.

And the line after that is there on your lips

And you’re hoping I won’t ask you why.

We can’t have cliché here.

Whilst they’re building houses in rows.

And curtains are still de rigueur.

And women still do things with bows.

Well we can’t have a cliché here.

But it will take some thinking about.

Since avoidance may also be clichéd.

And this truth may sow seeds of doubt.

So let’s not have a cliché here.

Just say what you really mean.

I know it might well be a cliché

But at least we’ll have seen where we’ve been.

The End
