Just Jodie

When I first met her, I was an insensitive poet
Hell yeah, didn’t she know it

She was a university girl in the making
laughing about all the courses I’d that she’d be taking
Everyday, she’d be singing

That same old song

She never once questioned why I misspelled my name
All the time we talked, she wasn’t easy to tame
Year after, I noticed she is still the same

Jodie, just Jodie
She said her name was Jodie
Jodie, just Jodie
Yeah

Even now when I’d ask about her life
She’d talk about Freud and the soap opera wives
As if she lived 5 separate lives

I’m the kind of guy who is a complete downer
But somehow it never seems to bother her
Even if there was another

Jodie, just Jodie
She said her name was Jodie
Jodie, just Jodie
Yeah

We are the same
Platonic angels reign
over us
We are the same
Platonic angels reign
for us...

Jodie, Just Jodie
She said her name was Jodie
Jodie, Just Jodie
Yeah

Jodie, Just Jodie
I love your stories
Jodie, Just Jodie
You love my poetry
Jodie, Just Jodie
We love our creativity

The End
