Joints

This anasthaetic creeps through your blood
Slithering around the lumen of your veins,
This beloved drug caresses your brain,
When will it let go?
Its kisses fierce, seized from you
With nothing short of the satisfaction
Of having its way with your puppet strings.
Your numb lungs can't breath with the weight
Of a love so dark and the lust of smoke
Billowing from your protruding bones.
She slips away, with one last kiss
In the dead of the night, while you still dream.
This last trace of ecstasy goes from your head
While your thoughts fight their way back in.
This hero's welcome back to life
Is not your due, it should rather go
To the fallen soldiers of your heart,
While you lay with your lady love, your drugs.

The End
