Ivy's Uprising

layers caked over ancient cracks, built up upon my skin like heavy icing on a cake

too sweet and too thick

my body melded to the cool walls of an abandoned building on the outskirts of town

part of an old structure that ivy tries to uproot

snaking it's way under walls and windows

forcing the seams to tear and give way to an old sun and a new vision

fighting the regime of an ideal too long romanticized

so i'll thrash out of old concrete and pry myself out from between the cracks

leave the building to finally rot without me and let the sun take me to meet her moon

The End
