A Desert Without Contrast

I'm lost,
I'm not sure what happened,
One moment I was happy,
The next I was sad,
Then I was angry,
But I can't remember why.
I wander now,
Though a vast,
Featureless desert.
There is nothing in sight,
Only a great emptiness,
Impossible to fill.
And so I wander,
No past,
No future,
No present.
Doomed to walk
For all of time,
Always searching,
Never finding,
Always thirsty,
Never quenched,
Always hungry,
Never filled.
A mere shadow,
What is left of a man
After everything is taken,
A shadow in a desert without contrast.

The End
