A Day Late And A Buck Short

I was so high,
The ground miles away.
I was soaring,
Weaving through the clouds.
I was floating,
What gravity?
And then...
Reality strikes again.
I hit the wall,
Reached the end of the line,
Fell to the ground.
I was fooled,
I was delusional,
I spilled my soul,
I wore my heart on my sleeves,
Put myself out there,
And was crushed.
I loved,
And will love her forever,
And I told her as much.
Turns out,
I was a day late,
And a buck short.
Someone had gotten there first,
And she has given her heart
To him.

The End
