In The Winter

Trying to be there for a friend who can't or won't save themselves

The cool of the morning

The dawn of the day and the calm

I tried to be the angel you wanted me to be

I tried to make you see the world as I see

I tried to be there for you

In the winter I lost you forever

I tried to mend you, fixing the void

I know now I must go

I can see you there distant, alone

I can see you yearning, to be made whole

I looked out for you once

A light for ships

On the rocky coast

But noone can save you now

Because all of the angels are gone

Because you're no longer strong

The warmth of the sun

Springtime in heaven hollow to me

I tried to save you from yourself long ago

I tried to rescue you when you were low

I tried to be there for you

In the winter I lost you forever

I tried to mend you, fixing the void

I know now I must go

You try to love others before yourself

You tried to save them as you fell

They don't hate you because you care

They hate you're self-made hell

Even the angels feel afraid and scared

Look to the sky and I'll ease your pain

Look to the sky and I'll love you again

I tried to be there for you

In the winter I lost you forever

I tried to mend you, fixing the void

I know now I must go

The End
