If You Never Love Me

I needed to get this out, but please, you know who you are, don't read this...

If you never love me...
Can I be someone in which you confide,
For every time you fall in your stride?

Can I give a shoulder for your tears to soak through,
For every time that your beautiful heart breaks in two?

If you never love me...
Can I be at your wedding day,
So I can see you happy in every way?

Not as the groom, but as a guest,
So I can see your heart at its best?

If you never love me...
Can I be proud of you,
When you achieve your future view?

Can I get an autograph in a blank space,
Of your bestseller that I'll keep in my briefcase?

If you never love me...
Can I be by your deathbed?
Can I be there to give you a tear that I'll shed?

And if somehow no one is there when you die,
If we don't meet in another life...
Can I say "Goodbye"?

The End
