If this world ended tonight

Musings of a depressed man

If the world just ends tonight
I wouldn’t even shed a tear
Lost is the urge to simply survive
there's nothing more left to endear

It's not that I am embittered or lazy
But slave is all I am doing
To pass through this life so swiftly
hastily and without ever knowing

The pursuit that we call living
this chase for a few silver  coins
To fill our ever bottomless purses
from those that we've purloined

What has religion really offered
What salvation from science we've gained
Though enlightened we live in dark ages
The truth in metaphors explained

Yes if this world ended tonight
I wouldn't shed a single tear
For hope is just another delusion
The vast emptiness is what I really fear

The End
