If I Did

Last night I fell asleep and dreamed,

you were there with me.

Your arms around my waist,

my hands laced around you neck,

swaying to the music

in my head.

We did not speak, we had no words

and yet, we were free.

You were kissing me.

I woke to an empty bed,

empty arms,

empty, leading to the realization

I'll never press my lips to yours.

You'd never forgive me if I did.

The End
