I wish that I could draw

Recommend

I wish that I could draw,

turn my daydreams into pictures,

see the vast and shining shoals

of what I think in words.

I wish that I could draw,

give some body to emotion,

sketch a vision of the soul.

Paint a Feeling Ocean.

I wish that I could draw.

Maybe I’d encapsulate

my joy and fear and grief and pain

or tell a story to my eyes.

I wish that I could draw:

The angel wings, the pointed fangs,

the glossy fur, those things I dream!

My fantasies come true.

A drawn and coloured world.

I’d live there like I live in tales

I write, but this I’d see...

and fancied life would seem more real.

Author guidance for This poem

Tianna Oh dear, I feel a little like I'm betraying my fellow poets in writing this. Don't get me wrong, I love words and imagery, and I love creating stories and expressing myself with the English language.... but there's a slight desire in me to ... well, to be able to draw. :L
