I wish I were flying by night through clouds

Recommend

There was once a girl

who held her breath underwater

for so long she grew gills

She opened her eyes and took a breath

before she dove into the depths

the last we saw a languid tail

a shimmer

Just as a boy I would look above water

at mountains drifting past in communion

While rippled waves silver

shimmered

in the Sun

As now through the dark I listen

for the shimmering moon

and I wonder if waves still pass above

and I wonder how long must I stand here

holding my breath
