I Look Better Sideways

I Look Better Sideways

I look better sideways

I look better sideways

I look better sideways

I look better sideways

Or from across the room, behind the broken glass

It’s times like these when I close my eyes and try not to look back

The world looks better behind closed eyelids

but now I see the pain within

But you’re up on the roof, fishing through open windows

And you’ve hooked my eyelids to pull them open

It hurts for me to see, but now I’m forced to look forever

I don’t want to be, no I don’t want to be, the only man who can see in a world for the blind

I look better sideways

I look better sideways

Or from above the world, behind the shattered clouds

It’s times like these when I try to close my eyes but can’t

So I’m forced to see the pain in the world below

and no one else knows

You’ve reeled me in, but only halfway

Now I’m left here all alone, hanging by my eyelids

I look down below me toward all the people who have no vision

And I’m too far for them to hear my screams to help me

I am

Blind, but see too much

Deaf, but hear too much

Numb, but feel too much

And I’m floating alone above all the world

Alone floating above all the world

I see, I feel, I hear all your voices

but I’m in a whole different world

and no one, no one, no one can see

no one, no one, no one can be here

but me...

all alone, please understand me

all alone, please understand me

I speak so loud, why don’t you hear me

another language, please learn to read me

I just want this to all go away

I just want this to all go away

I just want this to all go away

I just want this to all go away

Even if the world below me could hear me

I know they would look away instead of helping me

They say a blind man can hear like superman

But I’m living in a world where the blind are deaf

and not because they can’t hear

but because no one has learned how to listen

And I’m the only one

I look better sideways

I look better sideways

Or from beyond the stars behind the dark of space

It’s times like these when I float away no matter which way I face

And I reach for help but no one can see!

And I call for help but no one can hear!

No one can feel beyond their world, except for me and I’m flying away!

But I had help from you when you pushed me away!

I’m so alone, I tried to force myself to stay,

but I’m gone away, gone away, gone away!

If only you understood, but you can’t see this far away, you can’t see this far away.

You’re deaf and blind to what you don’t want to hear or see

So just let me be, let me be, let me be, let me be,

let me be, let me be, let me be me.
