I am the moment frozen in time

This was inspired by an exercise in personification I assigned my high school students -- they had to choose an item important to them and write from that item's point of view.

I am the moment frozen in time.

Out of every other moment,

You chose me.

I hold expectation in my frame.

I capture split seconds.

I carry hope.

You can put me away in a drawer,

Forget me, even willingly,

And I will still resurface years later,

Phoenix-like,

The moment fresh again

As if the years never happened.

Opportunity holds it breath

As the shutter clicks.

You widen your eyes,

Stand up tall,

And smile --

Say cheese.

The End
