The Half-way Climb

He took the first step in my direction;
His eyes set on me with pure affection.
The grapes of the vine whispered his name,
And I knew I would never be the same.
I watched him climb, excitement grew
I raised my hopes, but then who knew
That something would happen?

He stopped climbing
And Oh with such aweful timing!

Where did he go?
I'm all alone.
Is he too in pain?
All I have now is his name...

What drove him away
With nothing to say?
Did he scrape his knee?
Get stung by a bee?
Did he slip and fall?
Did he give it his all?
Or could it be that it was me
That made him want to leave?

How should I know?
I'm just an apple
On top of the tree.

The End
