Tree-Trunk Brown

Iced tea, deep brown

Like my dishevelled bun

Like tree trunks

Like your shades in the sun

Ice cubes bob

In our sweet drinks

As we sip, poolside

And watch the lights sink

Your laugh echoes

In the sticky summer heat

And in every part of you,

I see a little piece of me

So I forget about what comes next

As I sip my chilled tea

For fall breeds disappointment

And a little less you and me

The End
